Weeks highlights

Formed in 2009 in Lisbon, the Portuguese band Paus who will be playing de Gudde Wëllen tonight, break all moulds from their unusual formation: two drummers that act as the motor of the band, bass and an arsenal of keyboards that create the multiple textures of their sound, that moves between experimental and pop with tropical influences, psychedelia and hints of the hardcore past of some of its members.

Fink will be bringing his Bluesy folk to den Atelier this Friday night. He has just released his new album Hard Believer to some great reviews. Urban, bluesy, and alive, Hard Believer is a masterful collection of epic songs from an artist at the peak of his creative powers. Hard Believer continues the bold expansion of folk’s parameters begun by its predecessor, Perfect Darkness: “A delight… you don’t want it to end,” glowed a Guardianreview. Musically Fink explores folk, electronica, blues, and rock. But it’s the songwriting that really propels Fink into a new space: Fin Greenall is one of the UK’s greatest modern-day songwriters.

From prog rock to techno and from R&B to funk, brothers David and Stephen Dewaele know no limits. Famous worldwide as both Soulwax and 2manydjs their album “As Heard On Radio Soulwax Pt. 2” completely revolutionised the dance music landscape in the early 2000s, for its imaginative mixture of artist and genres from all eras and, as Soulwax, have also produced some of the most memorable and cutting edge remixes ever including Pulp, GTA (Soulwax FM), Arcade Fire, Daft Punk, Gorillaz and MGMT. Fans of electronic music, don’t miss out on one of the finest DJs around, as the Belgium duo will be sharing their amazing grooves with the Rockhal audience during their DJ Set this Saturday.
